FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short answers about pricing, licenses, privacy and setup.
Pricing
What do I pay for?
Two things: $9.99 once for each VeloPixels app you buy, and Venice AI credits that you buy directly from Venice. The minimum Venice top-up is $10, credits never expire, and an edit costs about $0.04 on average.
Why do I need my own Venice key?
VeloPixels sends your photos straight from your device to Venice AI. Using your own key means you pay Venice's real price with no markup, and your photos never pass through our servers.
Is there a subscription?
No. Each app is a one-time purchase, and updates are free.
How do refunds work?
Ask within 14 days of purchase and you get the app price back. Venice credits are bought from Venice and aren't covered. See the refund policy.
Licenses
How many computers can I use?
Each license works on 2 devices. To move to a new computer or browser, click Deactivate in Settings first, then activate on the new one.
I reinstalled the extension and my activation limit is full
Removing the extension doesn't free its activation, and a reinstall counts as a new device. Next time, deactivate before removing it. For now, contact support and we'll reset it.
Can I use one license for both apps?
No. The extension and the desktop app are separate products, each with its own license key.
I lost my license key
It's in your receipt email, and in your Lemon Squeezy orders.
Privacy
Do you store my photos?
No. Your photos go from your device straight to Venice AI. They never pass through a VeloPixels server, because we don't run one.
Where is my Venice API key stored?
Only on your device: in browser extension storage for the extension, and in Windows Credential Manager for the desktop app. It's only sent to Venice.
Does it work offline?
Editing needs an internet connection to reach Venice. Your license keeps working for up to 14 days if the license check can't connect.
Setup
Which browsers and systems are supported?
The extension works in Google Chrome on desktop. The desktop app runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). A macOS version of the desktop app is in development.
Why does Windows show a warning when I install?
VeloPixels is a new independent app and isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns about it the first time. See the Windows install guide.
The model list is empty
Save your Venice API key first, then click Refresh next to the model list. See the Venice setup guide.
Extension
Where are my edited photos saved?
In a subfolder of your Downloads folder, called VeloPixels by default. Chrome only lets extensions save inside Downloads.
I don't see the AI button
Make sure your license is active and you're on instagram.com. Hover directly over a photo; reload the page if you just installed or updated the extension.
Desktop App
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF.
Will it overwrite my original photos?
No. Edited copies are saved with a new name in the output folder you choose.
